PORTRAIT PROCESS & FEES
Thinking about that perfect gift for your loved ones or friends? Why not honor them by purchasing a custom handcrafted portrait that will serve as a family heirloom? Portraits make great gifts for weddings, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, family portraits, graduations, and memorials to deceased loved ones.
PROCESS
The client and I start with a discussion to get an idea of the individual’s personality and character. We'll also discuss details such as mood, setting, composition, size, price, where the portrait will hang, and whether it will be formal or casual, as well as the schedule. I will then take a variety of photos to serve as my reference material for the portrait. This session will take around 3 hours. My goal is to capture a moment that best represents the individual and that will help display the inner spirit of the portrait. The sitting will be held at the client's chosen location. At this session, a 30% deposit and a signed contract are required to confirm an accepted commission. The deposit is non-refundable. Once I return to my studio, I'll sort through the photographs to find a few images that would work best as the portrait reference. These photos will be emailed to the client for discussion, and when an image is approved, I'll start work on the portrait. A pencil drawing of the portrait will then be sent to the client for approval to start work on the final portrait. Depending on the size and complexity of the portrait, it could take from two to eight weeks, or sometimes longer, to complete. Before the actual portrait is delivered to the client, a photograph of the completed portrait will be sent to the client for approval. The remaining balance must be paid upon approval of the completed portrait.
